Skateboard
Skateboard
I took on this project driven purely by my own curiosity. I thought it would be cool to know how to skateboard, but I thought it would be even cooler if I made the skateboard myself.Â
After doing some online research on general skateboard dimensions, I proceeded to use Autodesk Inventor to design my own board. I opted to include a carving of my last name in the bottom for some extra style. Utilizing a CNC router, I turned my piece of wood into an actual skateboard. I filled the letters in with a blue epoxy mixture, so that I would have a smooth surface that was also aesthetically pleasing. After lots of sanding and a nice coat of polyurethane, I was satisfied with the board. I ordered some blue wheels online to match the epoxy.
I'm not an avid skateboarder by any means, but I was able to ride it around in my driveway back home, so I would definitely say it was a worthwhile endeavor.
